Title: What's New in Java 7

Annotation: This talk will present the new features that will (probably) be included in Java 7 when officially released:

  • the new deployment model in the Java platform
  • superpackages and Java modules
  • the new input output system (NIO2)
  • asynchronous sockets and files
  • the new file system API
  • the new date and time APIs
  • the new concurrency utilities
  • the Swing application framework
  • Java media components
  • JavaBeans validation
  • JMX 2.0
  • the new language features (strings in switch, enumerations comparison, chained invocation constructors, extension methods, exceptions multi-catch, simplified null handling, automatic type inference)
  • the enhanced annotations
  • the dynamic language support enhancements
  • the Java kernel
  • new garbage collector (G1), etc.
  • Most features will be demonstrated with examples and live demos with the JDK 7 Preview Release and Netbeans.

    About the speaker: Svetlin Nakov has 15 years technical background as software engineer, software project manager, consultant, trainer, and entrepreneur with rich experience with the .NET and Java EE platforms, information systems, databases, Web development, security and others. He is author of 6 technical books about C#, and Java programming, and tens of technical and scientific publications. Svetlin has been a speaker at hundreds of conferences, seminars, courses and other trainings. Currently he drives the technical training department in Telerik Corporation and grows software engineers at Telerik Academy (http://academy.telerik.com), Sofia University and Technical University of Sofia. He holds a master degree in "Distributed system and mobile technologies" and PhD degree in computational linguistics from Sofia University.
