Let's contribute in Netbeans Localization

Hi All,

it has been long time since my latest post, sorry for that, but I think I have a very good topic to be discussed here regarding contripution in java community as Arabs and Egyptians, I think we as a Java User Group shall be involved in that.

Sun has created a project for anyone who is interested in the translation of all or a part of the Netbeans IDE, the project is called TRANSLATION PROJECT, and here is the URL of the project

http://translatedfiles.netbeans.org/index.html

In fact I have tried to find anything talking about creating new project or create new localization to add arabic, but failed to reach, if there is anyone interested, we can start.

This vedio discusses what is really happining and what has been done so far in localization of Netbeans, I did not hear arabic in that vedio, so I think it is our mission and our chance.

Hashim basha,

Sorry, I was away from EGJUG for long time as I mentioned, I will search posts in EGJUG about this topic, and got what was done so far, in fact. I thought for a while that this topic may be discussed before, but I posted it just in case.

Anyway thanks for  your kind notation, I shall return to you for any question.

Dear Sayyad, the discussion

Dear Sayyad,

the discussion doesn't exist in the JUG site, it was face to face conversation

I think your idea is very good, and the Netbeans website is clear regarding the contribution in translation, so let's start do it.

let me know how you would like to contribute.

Dear Hashim, All, What do

Dear Hashim, All,

What do you think if we (as JUG) take the mession of localizing the Netbeans IDE as a free, open source, easy to use Java IDE, I have searched in the  translatedfiles website, I did not find Arabic localization, so I want to know if there are some of us who is willing to help doing this mession?

Hashim, I think we may create new project in our JUG then anyone interested can subscripe to the project, whenever we got reasonable number of contriputers, we shall start making Arbic Community in the Translation website.

I hope  all of us like the idea, I think this will be a very good contripution from our JUG to Java community and Arabic as well.

the need for specialists

it's a nice idea and very important to be active in the community with notable contributions, but for translation we have to think a little

of course, if we - Arabs - didn't support localization for OUR language, no one else will do that for us, but we're not translators nor linguists and a look at some arabic sites presenting technical information in Arabic will show you the mess and chaos of such translation from non speialists (techies who don't have language and translation skills)

in brief,  the idea is great but we need at least a supervision and guidance from a specialist whose specialization is translating computer and technology stuff - not just any translator i.e. he understands technical terms as much as he understands linguistics
