We are thrilled to announce the release of Java 7 on 7/7/2011 (as you might have heard), as a Java User Group we don't want it to be an ordinary release (after waiting for that long) so we and Oracle (Yes you read it right, Oracle!) decided to hold a launching event on the 9th of July 2011 (to make sure you have no excuse) so what are you waiting for? Come and join our full day event, full of technical goodies, sessions introducing what's new in Java 7 and also security enhancements in Java 7, hey wait a minute that's not all there will be a tremendous giveaways (books, licenses …) and much more, don't worry you won't feel hungry or thirsty except for knowledge (we promise), it is all about You and Java so don't miss it, click here to book your seat.
Session Title: "Java SE 7: The Java Language Evolves".
Session abstract: It's been a long time coming, but the wait has been worth it. Java SE 7 will provide new features to developers to make their lives easier and more productive. This session will look at the new features covering syntax changes in the Java language (Project Coin); performance improvements in the JVM for dynamically typed languages (The DaVinci Machine) and various additions to the core libraries (NIO2, the fork-join framework, etc). We'll also briefly look at the ideas for features to be in cluded in Java SE 8.
Speaker: Simon Ritter, a
technology evangelist for Sun Microsystems, specializes in emerging
technologies including grid computing, RFID, wireless sensor networks,
robotics and wearable computing. He has been in the IT business since
1984 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Brunel
University in the U.K. Originally working on UNIX development for
AT&T UNIX System Labs and then at Novell, Simon joined Sun in 1996
and started working with Java technology where he has spent time
engaging in both Java development and consultancy.
