AMR Encoding

Assalamu Alykum, We have good news for people who record or transfer voice on not-strong machines and/or a small bandwidth (like bluetooth ;) ). If U use wav or PCM, Quality is good, but the size of voice is large, So, when you transfer it into MANET (Mobile Ad-hoc networks), it will take a large time. But if U use AMR, Quality is less good, but the size is compressed into approximately 1/10 of wav size. Regards, Shimaa P.S. For people who don't know about AMR AMR stands for "Adaptive Multi Rate" :) AMR is an audio codec for very low bit rates, which was standardised by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) in 1999.

Dear all, How are you? Hope you are well.Second, let me clarify what shimaa feel a discovery:). We were about three months are using recording using wav format on the mobiles ==> the reason is that sun WTK didn't give support to any other types that could give less compression ratio. The new news that put your encoding amr, then build and make your jar. NOTE: it will NOT work on the EMULATOR, so don't try it. just put it directly on your device. Most persons in the forums speaks from the theoritical point of view but no one mention a trial. Now you could record 180 seconds using amr formate instead of 9 seconds using wav format:)! P.S. we didn't borrow your name for the format as it is a standard one:).
