Book Review: High performance web sites

High Performance Web Sites by Steve Souders is one of the most important books front end engineers should read to be able to develop a proper web sites. In 14 chapter, you will know 14 of the best tips to enhance the performance of your website. The good thing in this book, it is quick read and specific, the author gives example by numbers and statistics about the top 10 websites on the internet. In each tip Steve tells the effect of applying this tip on the top 10 websites.

The objective from this session is to explain some concepts

and facts behind the Java Platforms and Java Programming language, we need the

students to be more familiar with Java, know the features and API’s available,

tools and supported platforms. Also clarifying some points which may not be

clear for students like the cross-platform, Virtual Machine, SDK, Runtime, Byte

code, JSR and JCP. In addition to that; I will talk about the difference between

J2SE, J2EE & J2ME and the usage of each of them.

Open Terracotta: Open Source JVM-level Clustering by Jonas Boneer

Jonas is working at Terracotta Inc. with a focus on strategy, product development & architecture and technical evangelism. Prior to Terracotta, Jonas was a senior software engineer at the JRockit team at BEA Systems, where he was working on runtime tools, JVM support for AOP and technology evangelism.

He is a committer to Open Terracotta, the founder of the AspectWerkz AOP framework and has been a committer to the Eclipse AspectJ 5 project and various other Open Source projects. Jonas is a frequent speaker on AOP, JVM-level clustering and other emerging technologies (JavaOne, TSSJS, TSE, JAOO, eWorld, Java Pro Live!, Javapolis, AOSD conferences etc.). Alef Arendsen has overall responsibility for Interface21 service delivery in continental Europe. Alef is a software consultant with over 8 years' experience in the field of enterprise Java. He has worked with several Dutch companies, including start-up SmartHaven, where he was responsible for introducing a cutting-edge agile development process for a team of 35 developers.
